Name Type Text
Verbal (V) Magic A verbal component is a spoken incantation. To provide a verbal component, you must be able to speak in a strong voice. A silence spell or a gag spoils the incantation (and thus the spell). A spellcaster who has been deafened has a 20% chance to spoil any spell with a verbal component that he or she tries to cast.
Vermin Type Type

This type includes insects, arachnids, other arthropods, worms, and similar invertebrates.

Features

Vermin have the following features.

  • 8-sided Hit Dice.
  • Base attack bonus equal to ¾ total Hit Dice (as cleric).
  • Good Fortitude saves.
  • Skill points equal to (2 + Int modifier, minimum 1) per Hit Die, with quadruple skill points for the first Hit Die, if the vermin has an Intelligence score. However, most vermin are mindless and gain no skill points or feats.

Traits

Vermin possess the following traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature's entry).

  • Mindless: No Intelligence score, and immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects).
  • Darkvision out to 60 feet.
  • Proficient with their natural weapons only.
  • Proficient with no armor.
  • Vermin breathe, eat, and sleep.
Vile Damage Combat Vile Damage, like regular damage, results in the loss of hit points or ability score points. Unlike regular damage, vile damage can only be healed by magic cast within the area of a consecrate or hallow spell. Vile damage represents such a evil violation to a character's body or soul that only in a holy place can healing magic repair the damage
Vulnerability To Energy Ability Some creatures have vulnerability to a certain kind of energy effect (typically either cold or fire). Such a creature takes half again as much (+50%) damage as normal from the effect, regardless of whether a saving throw is allowed, or if the save is a success or failure.
